I’ve never had much luck with store-bought brands of natural deodorant so I always end up going back to my conventional antiperspirant. If I move a muscle, I sweat, and I’m a fairly active person . . . not a good combination. But I recently tested some homemade natural B.O. control. I got the recipe from my Mom. It's so simple, mix 1 or 2 parts baking soda with 6 parts cornstarch in a container and shake!
Day 1:
Activity: mostly worked at my desk, did some light house work. Went for what was supposed to be a stroll, but got attacked by deer flies and so worked up a sweat trying to outrun them. Still smells good, although I did wash up soon afterwards and reapplied. Lasted through 1 hour gentle yoga practice.
Day 2:
Another day of mostly sitting at my desk. Lasted through a 50 minute-long beginner belly dance workout, but reapplied a bit just to be safe. Hopefully I’ll have a more active day tomorrow so I can really test it.
Day 3:
Lasted through an intense 30 minute cardio/strength circuit. Of course I freshened up afterwards, but it still worked. I miss having a light scent, so I added a few drops of locally made lavender essential oil and gave it a good shake. I can’t smell the lavender once it’s applied, but it smells great when I open the container.
Day 4:
Lasted through light house work, moderate garden work, and 1 hr power yoga.
Day 5:
Lasted through an intense 30 minute interval cardio workout.
I’m happy with my results. I still can’t believe that it works, well, at least not any worse than conventional, store bought stuff that’s full of who knows what, and of course, making my own deodorant is a lot cheaper—and I really need to pay more attention to where my money goes these days; time to make a new budget, but that’s another post.

Glad it's working for you Grace. It's all I've been using for the last two months and I haven't found it irritating nor do I stink. Your Dad has been using it too, and aside for a few days he mentioned he was smelly (on those days I don't think anything could prevent body odor)it's been working for him too.
Thanks for testing this and sharing your findings! I've never tried this. Sounds interesting.
YOu've sold me on the idea...and tired me out with your exercise routine - eek, I feel lazy -- will give it a whirl -- anything has to be better than the store-bought stuff!!
Thanks!
I was skeptical at first myself. And like my Mom says, there are days that nothing will prevent ordor.
